Foothills State Forest Trail Ride

Join us for a casual weekend of trail riding. All breeds welcome! Ride on your own or with a group. Camp hosts plan to arrive Friday night.

For more info, contact Abbie Schramm at 218-839-0177.

Location:
Foothills Horse Camp
1215 Pine Mountain Lake Road NW
Backus MN 56435
This is a privately owned camp.

About the trails:
MN Horse Trail Pass not necessary here. Trails are technical single track (horse only) trails, as well as shared wider state forest roads. Can be rocky in some places, but we ride it barefoot. Use discretion if your horse is sensitive soled. Lots of beautiful wooded trails, and water crossings.

About camp:
Camp has electric hook ups as well as a gathering area for group meals. There are many panel pens set up around camp for horses, you can also use the high ties. Clean your own space - manure pits are located around camp. There are primitive outhouses - no bathrooms with running water, or a shower house. There is a well with water for filling water buckets for horses. Dogs must stay on leash and the camp hosts are sticklers about picking up your dog's poop. The campground is an open layout - its nice for hosting big groups.

El Rancho Manana Trail Ride

El Rancho Manana Trail Ride

Come ride with other MWHA members at El Rancho Manana near Cold Spring, MN. This is near St. Cloud, MN for a general idea of where it's located.

This is their Wild West Fest weekend. They have music and entertainment planned and I will include the link below. Included in the link is the ticket purchase if you choose to participate in that.

Camping cost for this weekend is $50 plus $25 for a horse pen Each campsite allows 1 horse, additional horses are $6, as well as $25 for each additional pen.

This is primitive camping, but last year they allowed generators, so if you have one bring it along. There should be water, but plan to haul just in case. I will have a tank and can fill it and bring it to the site if needed.

If you do decide to go and would have to cancel for any reason, Cancellation policy is anytime before 13 days prior is loss of $5, 7-13 days loss of $10, and 7 or under is no refund. Just so you're aware.

Since this will be a club event, your ability to earn your trail points is an incentive and having entertainment to boot!

El Rancho website: https://www.campelrancho.com/ Phone is: 320-597-2740

Wild Creek Entertainers website for Wild West Fest tickets: https://www.wildcreekentertainers.com/

Your host, Carol Kirchoff, is in the "Double Down" camp, be sure to ask for that and tell them you're with Carol Kirchoff. If that is full, ask to be placed in another location and we'll try to plan a meetup for riding and fun. Cell signal should be good here, it's close to civilization...lol

Hope to see you there!

Fort Ridgely Trail Ride

All are welcome to ride with us at Fort Ridgely - all breeds welcome!

Camp host will be at Site H9E.

Saturday we will do a mid-day bring-your-own lunch approximately 1:00 pm. Bring your own chair and lunch/beverage. This will allow riders to ride in the morning, and if the day is hot, to take advantage of a cooler evening ride.

Ride on your own or with a group.

There is road construction! Camp Host Carol has advised: Access the park via County Road 39 that goes by the golf course. You will see "Bridge Out" signs, but that does not apply to the road that goes to the park and campground. The main entrance road on County Road 21/5 is closed.

Additionally: There is a lot of washout due to heavy rains the past week, so be prepared for trail closures and maneuvering washouts. Please do not disregard closed signs'; some trails are no longer there.
