Trail Riding/Driving
- Rider/driver must be a current member of MWHA (except in the Youth Divisions, whereby the owner of the horse must be a current member of MWHA).
- Any gaited horse is eligible for trail riding/driving awards.
- Hours can only be accumulated while trail riding/driving on roads and trails. Hours spent in arenas, round pens, etc. are not allowed with the exception of the 12 & Under Division where they may accumulate hours wherever ridden, except the show ring.
- Hours ridden must be written in the MWHA Trail Riding Log Book and hours driving must be written in the MWHA Driving Log Book.
- No hours can be logged that were accumulated prior to the treasurer receiving the Trail Riding Application, applicable fees and MWHA dues for the following year.
- Hours will be logged from January 1st, 2011through December 31st 2011
- Log book(s) must be turned in by January 5th, 2012.
- Awards will be given in the following categories:
- Youth 12 & Under (minimum number of hours = 35)
- Youth 13 – 17 (minimum number of hours = 50)
- Adult 18 – 39 (minimum number of hours = 50)
- Adult 40 – 59 (minimum number of hours = 50)
- Adult 60 & Over (minimum number of hours = 50)
- Driving – driver any age (minimum number of hours = 35)
Iron Butt
- This program will be continuous from year to year as long as the rider pays an annual fee of $15.00 and is a current MWHA member.
- The nominated rider can be any age and a current member of MWHA (except for youth under the age of 17 where the owner of the horse(s) is a current member of MWHA).
- Hours can be logged on any horse or mule where either the sire or dam is a registered TWH.
- Hours can be accumulated for any time in the saddle, except the show ring.
- Hours ridden must be written in the MWHA Iron Butt Log Book.
- Hours can be logged starting at any time during the year upon receipt of the $15.00 fee plus membership dues for the current year.
- Log books must be turned in every year by January 5th.
- New log books will be sent upon receipt of membership dues and trail riding fee. The hours previously ridden will be included in the new log books.
- Pins will be awarded whenever the rider accumulates the following hours:
50, 100, 150, 250, 500 and 750
- Upon reaching 1000 hours, an embroidered jacket will be given.
- Pins will be also awarded whenever the rider accumulates the following hours:
1250, 1500 and 1750
- Upon reaching 2000 hours, saddlebags (or something comparable) with embroidered logo and 2000 hours will be given.
- Youth riders 12 & Under will receive a prize for every 25 hours they complete.
Trophies and Awards – A Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded in each trail riding age group (except for the Youth Trail Riding group where a Runner-Up award will be given). Size, style and cost of said awards will be determined by the MWHA Board upon suggestion of the High-Point Program committee. These awards and earned pins/jackets will be presented at the annual MWHA Banquet.
