Costs

Cost: $425 for MWHA Members, $450 for non-members
Auditors $50 per day or $75 for weekend

Stalls: $80 Friday-Sunday, bedding $8 per bag, must purchase from venue

Camping: $35 per night, on site with plug ins

Jessica Mast began riding at age 3 and grew up participating in the North Carolina 4-H Horse Program where she was exposed to and had the opportunity to participate in several different disciplines, however the Tennessee Walking Horse has always been her first love.  She received her first registered TWH at the age of 12 and began showing in 4-H and breed shows up to the Regional and National levels.  At age 15 she began teaching riding lessons and over the following years had many students go on to compete successfully at State, Regional and National shows.

After attending college at North Carolina State University, Jessica began training professionally.  She focuses on producing horse/rider teams that are competitive in the amateur and youth ranks.  Since relocating to Shelbyville, TN in 2015 her amateur and youth riders have won numerous awards at the National and World Championship levels.

Jessica and her husband, David Mast, own and operate Stonewall Farm in Shelbyville, TN where they specialize in training flat-shod Tennessee Walking Horses.

Kyle Elliott began his training career on his parents’ farm in Enumclaw, Washington in 2013. In the fall of 2014, he relocated to New London, Ohio before settling in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Kyle has produced National, International and World Champions including WC Twenty Four Carrots ML, WC N-V, RWGC Magellan, RWC A Jazz Fest, RWC Privileged, RWC The Girls Knight Out. Additionally, Kyle was the first ever winner of The Maiden Championship aboard WC Twenty Four Carrots ML. Kyle owns and operates Elliott Performance Horses in Shelbyville, Tennessee with his assistant Pancho Alvarez

Join us to learn more about working on your TWH's gait and working with their conformation in a clinic led by two industry experts. 

Between the two of these expert clinicians, they have over 30 years of training experience with multiple world championships and 10 World Grand Championships combined, both in-hand and under saddle. They have both started a lot of young horses for show and trail and are avid trail riders themselves.

Clinic topics will include:

  • Conformation

  • Halter

  • Model

  • Gaits

  • Adjusting the gaits

  • Bitting and headset

  • Rounding

  • Working on gait on the lunge line

The clinic will also include one-on-one with each horse and working with the individual riders’ goals and there will be time for questions and requests.

FORMAT

The clinic will begin with ground work on Form to Function. How conformation affects gait, how Conformation affects in-hand classes.

Instruction on showing in Model and Halter.

Working the gait on the lunge line.

Getting the horse to give to the bit from the ground.

Work on headset and rounding.

Each participant is strongly encouraged to submit a question or problem ahead of time, that you would like to have help with.

Next, each participant will work individually with the clinicians approximately ½ hr increments.  Questions or requests are encouraged.

The second day the participant may advance with the same horse, or begin with a second horse.

COSTS

$250 per horse/rider combination for MWHA members, $275 for non-members

$50 per auditor

$10 lunch per day

Additional costs for camping, stalls, etc. in the registration packet.
